Who this is for

The Bar Standards Board's Transferring Qualified Lawyer (TQL) route is built for lawyers already admitted to practice in a common-law jurisdiction — Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Nigeria, Kenya, and others — who hold a law degree and rights of audience. You don't pause your career or relocate: you prepare from Lahore campus or online, and travel to the United Kingdom for the 10 Qualifying Sessions with your Inn and your Call to the Bar. Your assessments may not add another trip: some are sat online and some in person, and in some countries, including Pakistan, the in-person papers can be sat locally through a British Council centre. Ask BPP how and where each of yours is sat for your country before you budget for travel.

  • Stay in your own country
  • Keep practicing law
  • Become a barrister

You don't have to leave your practice, your family, or your country.

Recognised, and verifiable

Our Recognised Teaching Centre status covers the University of London degrees we teach. The Bar Transfer Course is Blackstone's own programme, following the Bar Standards Board's route for transferring qualified lawyers — the BSB decides every exemption.

Built for practicing lawyers

Stay in your own country

Prepare from home or online, wherever you practice. No relocation, no career break. You only travel to the UK for what must be done there.

Keep practicing law

Built for working lawyers. Study around your caseload and clients.

We handle the BSB application

Our team prepares your exemption case. Many of our graduates have secured substantial exemptions, and in some cases full exemptions.

Taught by practicing barristers

Every subject is led by a barrister who has walked the same path.

Indicative travel

Two things do bring you to the United Kingdom: the 10 Qualifying Sessions every transferring lawyer completes with the Inn, and your Call to the Bar. Budget your own airfare and stay for those, and we'll help you group them into as few trips as the Inn's calendar allows. Your assessments may not add another trip: some are sat online and some in person, and in some countries, including Pakistan, the in-person papers can be sat locally through a British Council centre. Ask BPP how and where each of yours is sat for your country before you book any flights for them.

$2,100 to Blackstone + ~£2,420 to UK bodies + BPP's assessment fees + your travel.

BPP sets its own assessment fees and publishes no fixed figure, so confirm current rates with BPP directly. We'd rather leave a gap here than quote you a number we can't stand behind.

14 days to change your mind

Your first $210 registers your place and is documented in your portal, and it is not a commitment you cannot walk back. Change your mind within 14 days of enrolment and we refund your tuition in full, provided the course has not substantially begun. After the 14 days you can still cancel future installments; fees for months you have already accessed are non-refundable.

Fees paid directly to UK bodies are governed by those bodies' own refund rules, not ours. Read the full terms.

UK fees are paid directly to the Bar Standards Board, your Inn of Court, and BPP. They are set by those bodies and subject to change, and every figure links to the source it was verified against in August 2026.

What we control — and what we don't

We provide

  • The taught course — 4 subjects, delivered by barrister faculty.
  • Your BSB exemption application, prepared with you.
  • Admissions and WhatsApp support, through to your Call to the Bar.

Decided by others — not us

  • BSB exemption outcomes.
  • Bar Transfer Test results, assessed by BPP.
  • UK regulatory fees — ~£2,420 to the BSB and your Inn, plus BTT assessment fees set by BPP (no fixed figure — confirm current rates with BPP directly).
  • Your visa and travel arrangements.

We'll tell you honestly at every step which side a question falls on.

This is only the beginning — every silk began as a junior.
